Downhill dog training

Well its been ages since i last rode out on my bike
all this DIY has taken over a bit.
So today the weather looked nice so we decided it was time for doug
to start his downhill training, he looked ready for it bouncing off me and
the walls as i got my gear together keen to know where we were going.

With my bike in the boot and doug sat next to me co driving
we went up north hill, i was a little nervous to start with, as
he is of course my best mate and i didnt want loose him,
so i stuffed some sauage in my pocket just for back up. I kept him
on his lead to start with just to see what he would do
it was silly really because i knew he was not going anywhere so of it came.
We both really enjoyed ourselves even though it was only
1.7 mile on the strava, he did get a little dirty coz hes only
got short legs. When we got back home all in one piece
he had to have a bath and a warm by the fire, while i had a
shower and got changed as im refereeing a snooker match later.

So a good ride out not far i know for his first time but
the boy done good! And heres to the next time.
Check out the slide show and VT along with the strava results.

Happy days!!!

The middle finger sportive.

MM nice forks !

Well it had been one of those wks, a busy 4 shifts in some really nice
biking weather, what a bastard ! So as i had found out that i was
knocked of KOM on strava and i was not having that and was out
to get back my crown. So Saturday arrived and i went for it like the wind
up hopcott and to Gary's bench as its commonly known, a quick  U E then
back to the top of the downhill track, camera at the ready i was going really
good until the 3rd section, what the hell have they done! Never mind i was
bound to have regained my crown,When i got back home and uploaded i discovered
it had failed and couldn't make any comparison so i had recreate a new one.
(what a tinker)  check out the strava   http://app.strava.com/rides/20458377.

Sunday arrived and Zac declared that fancied a blast so i dusted down
his bike gave the tyres a kick but he said the only thing holding
him back was his middle finger, so out came the spray plaster and nursey
done his best and away we went. We decided on a short route, North hill
Selworthy, Allerford, down to horner for a well earned cuppa with a slice
of the old cakie, then up horner water to Cloutsham, Webbers post, Dunster path,
brockwell and home. ( just a quickie)    http://app.strava.com/rides/20593232

Sandstorm

Strawberry jelly!

I was shocked today when mention to my son do you want to go for a blast on the bikes
when he said yes. Right lets go then before you change your mind! Seeing that is was
such a long time since the last ride out we thought it would be best to do a short lap around
hopcott with the trusty gopro. I must say the bike feels really go at the mo managed to sort
the rebound and that bloody GATE! So here are the strava results nothing fantastic but quality
time spent with John.      http://app.strava.com/rides/19783093 . Followed by the usual slide show
and the VT    http://youtu.be/6HqAHMyZ4C0   Happy days!

Uphill Downhill.

Hurlstone point.

It was a foggy  today as we set off from the weir on our usual route
this time with an added extra, when we reached the top of Porlock hill
we crossed over the road  onto Porlock common on a route used
by the exmoor explorer, following the track down into homebush
woods and onto Porlock and then back to the weir.
Check out the you tube clip for the downhill run,

Foggy mountain.

Misty.
Last wk i went for a blast with my mate Gaz, but after viewing my gopro footage
i was not to happy because i didn't set up the camera properly on my new chest strap
right and all i had was view of my knees and handlebars.
So today i was determined to re ride part of the route from last wk with a few
adjustments.

I could see the fog hanging over the hills as i set off just up from
Porlock weir through the woods and on to the toll
road, and then back down into the woods discovering a new
downhill route, anyway it was a good lap and i feel good now I've had my fix.

Here is the link for the pictures, enjoy!http://youtu.be/JL7oSRBuKcc
With many thanks to Lester Flatt & earl Scruggs for the music titled
foggy mountain, and used in the film Bonnie and Cyde.
Yee Ha!

Porlock hill wet and windy.

Lovely brekkie.
My friend and Gaz decided it would be a good idea to do a lap of porlock hill , nice one heres another chance to try the gopro again. I thought that i would do a mix of pics with some down hill footage because i bought a new chest stap for it. We parked up at porlock wier and the sky looked dark i was gonna say can we just pay a visit to exmoor cooking co but then realised that i only just had breakfast. Anyway we had a good blast and half way we stopped to check the view Gaz pointed out that as the saying goes, apparently if you can see Wales its gonna rain and if you cant then it already is! Ceck out the stats at strava. http://app.strava.com/rides/15866021. we covered 8.7 miles with 1800 ft of elevation, a pictures of the ride at youtube. http://youtu.be/_ORhTM2nzWA. Not to mention we did finish up at exmoor cooking co cheers!

So early Tuesday morning with the bikes packed into big reggie myself gaz and his no1 son set off for haldon. I have tried to edit some of the c.r.a.p of this VT but you know me and tecnology! so you might have to use the fast forward button. Anyway i hope this dam thing uploads soon coz im getting board, and my mate gaz cant wait to see how good i am on the down hills.http://youtu.be/LK5EjVFLPKw

Part 2 of our epic adventure.

Horner tea gardens for a lovely cuppa.

So here we go for another bash at it! I'm getting to grips with my new toy and in this post there will be 3 videos of the down hills we had on our ride out, still a little more practise needed i know (on the camera work not the riding) but hopefully i will get better as time goes on. I uploaded this picture from my phone so is that why the quality is so crap? We covered 18 miles in total.http://app.strava.com/rides/12635891  Down hill from north Hill to selworhty woods.http://youtu.be/cqcSIm6VytE. This next section from Weber's post to Brockwell.http://youtu.be/tpy6a2ikkCU. The last part we named readers wives simply because we often meet some strange folk in the woodland in some really strange positions with cameras etc. http://youtu.be/XZPuJshAHxg

Our epic adventure

#firstpost for a tecnofobe!

Well i made it in the end, i think! It has took me a few hours of swearing and frantic mouse clicking to get this far, and now my brain is burnt to a frazzle and im going to bed! But i  hope this will be the start of something good and over time will figure it all out. Times like these.
